SkyPort named Teleport Developer of the Year
By the World Teleport Association
March 03, 2004 – HOUSTON, TEXAS, – SkyPort International, Inc. (SkyPort), has been named "Teleport Developer of the Year" by the World Teleport Association. Roger Klotz, President and Chief Executive Officer of SkyPort, accepted the honor at a luncheon held earlier today at the Satellite 2004 Conference in Washington D.C.
SkyPort was recognized for the design and development of its secure teleport and global Network Operations Center (NOC) located at Ellington Field, an active military base. Situated adjacent to NASA's Johnson Space Center, the teleport was designed and built to deliver 99.99% reliability and has been independently validated through rigorous testing. The teleport's strategic location minimizes backhaul charges for customers while providing physical and network security to ensure the privacy of all communications. SkyPort's NOC is manned on a 7x24 basis providing seamless integration of satellite and terrestrial networks.
Designed to satisfy the most demanding customers, SkyPort's teleport was built in only 150 days. It opened in August 2003 with a VoIP call over satellite. The seamless integration of satellite and terrestrial networks offered by the teleport is coupled with the capacity to handle any communication - voice, video or data. The teleport currently serves a diverse range of commercial customers in several industries, including oil and gas, finance and international carriers.
"SkyPort is honored to have been named 'Teleport Developer of the Year' by the World Teleport Association" said Klotz. "With its unique location and security structure, our teleport is addressing the needs of organizations that seek maximum protection for their communications."
Klotz added that SkyPort anticipates further expanding the reach of its services to include government agencies and others that have growing requirements for enhanced security.
