ARINC to Add SkyPort Satellite Service
to AWINS™ Interoperability Solution
August 06, 2007 – ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND – ARINC Incorporated today announced a marketing agreement with SkyPort Global Communications of Houston, TX to distribute SkyPort’s broadband satellite service to customers of ARINC’s award-winning AWINS™ interoperability solution.
SkyPort is an industry leader in carrier-class satellite communications, which it provides to government agencies, defense programs, and energy customers. SkyPort representatives will be available at ARINC Booth 2732 of the 73rd American Public Safety Communications (APCO) Exposition August 6-8 in Baltimore, MD.
“ARINC and SkyPort first worked together at St. Charles Parish, LA following Hurricane Katrina, where we successfully integrated the SkyPort voice-over satellite service with our AWINS radio interoperability system,” stated Marvin Ingram, ARINC Senior Director, Interoperability Solutions. “Now we are very pleased we can offer a new class of service—SkyPort’s mission-critical broadband service—to all our customers.”
“SkyPort is excited to partner with ARINC, a pioneer and a leader, to align our satellite broadband service with ARINC’s best-of-breed interoperability solution,” stated Patrick Brant, President, SkyPort Global Communications. “We’re confident this partnership will provide world class, innovative emergency response solutions and business continuity services—solutions and services that will enable all responders and decision makers to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in real time during an emergency.”
Unlike most commercial providers of satellite broadband, SkyPort specializes in delivering the mission-critical communications required by today’s military, government agencies, and energy companies. The company maintains a dedicated 24x7 Network Operations Center and extensive private ground infrastructure at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Texas. This enables SkyPort to provide robust connectivity and exceptionally responsive customer service.
ARINC also announced that a Mobile Command Unit of the Maryland Transportation Authority with ARINC’s AWINS technology will be displayed at APCO Booth 2732.
