February 23, 2006 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – SkyPort International, Inc. provided outstanding and invaluable support to the National Guard’s relief efforts following the devastation wrought in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.
The National Guard Bureau J6 coordinated the deployment of 19 of the Interim SATCOM Incident Site Communications Sets (ISISCS) and the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability (JISCC) to the relief areas of operation during the 2005 hurricane season. According to Major LeeFurches, NGB-J6 Joint C4 Support Division, “during this time, SkyPort performed flawlessly while maintaining the hub at their Houston, TX facility on behalf of the National Guard. SkyPort’s keen and insightful understanding of the National Guard’s role and mission during the disaster was a key to the relief effort and directly contributed to the National Guard’s ability to provide solid uninterrupted communications support”. Major Furches further stated “SkyPort was a key supporter of the National Guard Bureau during relief efforts. By truly becoming part of the National Guard Team, SkyPort directly contributed to the National Guard’s ability to provide communications support to ongoing consequence management efforts.”
