  • executivesRobert Kubbernus, President & CEO

    Robert Kubbernus is president and CEO of SkyPort Global Communications as well as chairman of the Board of Directors, where he has served since 2005.  Mr. Kubbernus has been a leader in special situations for the past 20 years.  With a proven track record in the United States, Canada and Europe, he has developed the business, political, and capital-market relationships needed to build global organizations. He has delivered more than US $850 million in both debt and equity to special-situation companies.

    Mr. Kubbernus has worked with and owned companies involved in the business of information technology and telecommunications, oil and gas, pharmaceutical products, e-commerce, portfolio management, real estate development, construction, and resort development.  Mr. Kubbernus was nominated as Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000; served on the board of Rockyview Hospital; been appointed Venture Magazines “Most Influential People” of the year 2000; he has held the position of Adjunct professor/Instructor at Florida State University, Computer Science Faculty; has sat on the board of Directors for the Airdrie Development Council and has been a keynote speaker on subjects ranging from Emerging Information Technologies to Change Management.

  • executivesDouglas Whitworth, Chief Financial Officer

    Mr. Whitworth is SkyPort’s Chief Financial Officer. He joined SkyPort in June 2006.  He has over 25 years of service in the financial sector with proven ability to manage within complex environments and deliver strong financial accountability.  He began his career with KPMG were he gained over seven years of experience in providing accounting and tax services to a wide range of industries.

    Prior to Joining SkyPort he was CFO of a telecommunications technology company, where he assisted in maintaining a 50 percent annual growth rate over four years and architected its acquisition of a complementary Silicon Valley technology company.  As a principal with A.G. Cooper & Associates, he assisted with private placements of both public and private client companies; mergers and acquisitions; and developing finance, accounting, computer and management reporting systems.  As manager of financial research for American General Corporation, one of largest financial services companies in the United States, he led the team responsible for external financial reporting including annual and quarterly reports and SEC reports and filings.

    Mr. Whitworth holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

  • executivesBruce Dunlop, COO & VP Program Management

    As vice president of program management, Bruce Dunlop formalizes and manages complex processes and procedures, supports sales personnel, manages vendors and leads SkyPort in delivering superior customer service.

    Mr. Dunlop’s impressive 30+ year career includes working with NATO, the United States Government, DirecTV, Sirius Satellite Radio and a host of international commercial customers. Before joining SkyPort, Mr. Dunlop was the Vice-President of Operations for the Armer Communications division of Radyne Comstream, Inc. previous to Armer, he held the title Senior Program Manager at Globecomm Systems, Inc., where he managed multi-million dollar earth station programs for the Americas Team Business Unit. His responsibilities included management of high-profile customers such as Sirius, DirecTV, The Word Network and Crawford Communications. From 1984 to 1998, Mr. Dunlop worked at Satellite Transmission Systems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of California Microwave, Inc. in a variety of positions including site manager, senior member of technical staff/facilities, engineering manager and program manager. Mr. Dunlop and his wife Barbara, reside in Houston.

    Mr. Webb is responsible for the business development of managed solutions and global satellite capacity for the energy market. He is an accomplished sales executive with extensive experience and executive level relationships in the energy and engineering & construction industries. As decisive leader with a history of success in new market identification and strategic development, Mr. Webb has established a proven track record of increasing revenue, profitability and global market share.

    Before re-joining SkyPort, Mr. Webb served at Globe Wireless of Houston TX, where he held the position of Sales Manager, North America Region. At Globe Wireless, he was Responsible for the business development of managed communications solutions, broadband and mobile satellite services for maritime accounts.  Prior to this, Mr. Webb, was Sales Manager, Enterprise Solutions at SES Americom, Houston, TX where his outstanding achievements include being recognized as oil & gas sector leader for 2008 (based on exceeded quota of $12.7m); created and implemented a successful strategic marketing campaign targeting oil & gas customers;  and winning key clients such as ExxonMobil, FMC Technologies, Mobil Equatorial Guinea, Hess, and Stallion Oilfield.

    Mr. Webb continues to be devoted to personal development through education, his Americom University courses include: Multiple Sales / Sales Management Training courses; Effective Marketing; and Public Speaking.

    As vice president of SkyPort’s government sales group, Dawn Cole delivers extensive, broad-based, multi-functional management experience in the information technology field.  

    During her 20+ year career at companies including IBM and Fischer International, she has excelled at leading high-achieving international sales teams and developing profitable sales channels with revenues exceeding $100 Million annually.  An experienced business development executive, her joint venture between Fischer and Toshiba resulted in the successful IPO of Smart Disk Corporation. 

    Ms. Cole leverages her sales management experience as a well-known international sales trainer.  In partnership with DEI Corporation, she has provided sales and sales management workshops for large and small corporations including Sprint Canada, Toshiba Canada, Brenntag Chemicals, Canada Newswire, Rogers Media, Unisource, Quebecor World and others.

    Ms. Cole is a sought-after speaker in sales and technology circles.  She has been a featured speaker at numerous events including Canada Newswire’s Annual Sales Conference and several Wireless Telephony Association conferences.  She also served as the Chairperson for the Annual Canadian Forum for Information Technology Security and Governance.

    Mr. Long has over 20 years of experience in a diverse set of marketplaces including aerospace, defense, telecommunications, and transportation. His client base has included ABB and Lockheed Martin, as well as a broad range of telecom entities including AFC, Adtran, Deutsche Telekom and Nortel Networks. Specializing in government and international markets, Mr. Long has directed and participated in over 100 mergers, acquisitions and industrial teaming agreements.

    In 1996, Mr. Long founded Oaklawn Partners Limited, a global business development and advisory services firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., where his activity broadened into the venture space with a concentration in satellite communications and network security. In addition to his association with SkyPort Global Communications, Mr. Long is a general partner in Nile Holdings LLC, an Atlanta-based private equity house. Mr. Long is a graduate of the University of Rochester and has completed graduate studies at American University in Washington, D.C., the National Graduate University and the U.S. Naval Justice School in Newport, R.I.
